Four people facing weapons charges after Saskatoon police traffic stop

Four people are facing firearm-related charges after a traffic stop in Confederation Suburban Centre on Sunday.

Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on April 7 that the stop on April 6 around 10:30 p.m. came after officers saw a suspicious vehicle near 22nd Street West and Diefenbaker Drive.

Police said the vehicle had four people inside and they saw a rear-seat passenger trying to hide a firearm.

SPS arrested all four and said they then found a rifle and ammunition, two machetes, bear spray and brass knuckles on the people arrested and inside the vehicle.

As a consequence all four people are facing charges:

A 17-year-old man from Prince Albert is facing six firearm-related charges as well as charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of release.
A 27-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with four counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and breach of release.
A 28-year-old Saskatoon woman is facing a charge of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and
A 23-year-old woman from Sturgeon Lake First Nation was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
