Keep an eye on the sky if you’re in eastern Saskatchewan on Wednesday.
Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm watches and warnings early on Wednesday afternoon. The area under the weather alerts stretched north to Torch River and Smeaton, and as far west as Last Mountain Lake.
Three areas were under severe thunderstorm warnings on Wednesday afternoon, meaning the storms are already occurring or are imminent.
One of those areas included Indian Head, Montmarte and the surrounding communities.
“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain,” the weather service said in a statement.

Further north, an area that included Choiceland, Smeaton, White Fox and Torch River was also under a severe thunderstorm warning.
“This severe thunderstorm is located 21 kilometres north of Choiceland, moving south at 20 km/h,” Environment Canada noted.
Another area just north of Lloydminster was placed under a severe thunderstorm warning later in the afternoon.
The storm could bring wind gusts as high as 90 km/h and hailstones the size of nickels, the weather service warned.
