A 20-year-old man was arrested after allegedly holding a rideshare driver at knifepoint during an attempted vehicle theft.
The Saskatoon Police responded to a rideshare driver being held at knifepoint in the 10 Block of 24th Street East of Saskatoon. When police arrived the male suspect had already left the scene, after attempting to steal the rideshare vehicle.
The Saskatchewan RCMP received a complaint of the suspect’s vehicle driving at high speeds near Rosthern. Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit
The Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit directed RCMP and SPS K9 units to the vehicle after a successful tire deflation device was deployed.
The suspect was apprehended after he fled on foot and is facing charges related to possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, robbery, dangerous driving, as well as breaching court-ordered conditions.
