A fire early Tuesday caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to a building in Saskatoon’s Riversdale neighbourhood.
According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, the call about the blaze in the 200 block of Avenue F South was received just after 6 a.m.
When crews arrived, flames were visible through the roof and smoke was coming out of the building’s second-floor windows.
“The fire was located and knocked down quickly, however due to the lathe and plaster construction of the structure, fire crews faced the difficult challenge of opening walls and ceilings to ensure complete extinguishment,” the fire department said in a release.
The department said the fire was extinguished by 7:45 a.m. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
A fire investigator wasn’t able to find a cause for the fire, so it’s being listed as undetermined. The investigator did determine the fire started in a room on the second floor.
