A 31-year-old man from the Red Earth Cree Nation is dead after a suspected hit-and-run early Monday.
The RCMP said officers from the Carrot River detachment got a call Monday at around 4:30 a.m. about an injured man on Highway 163 on the Red Earth Cree Nation.
Officers and paramedics found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He subsequently was identified as a 31-year-old from that First Nation, which is about 80 kilometres east of Nipawin.
“Preliminary investigation suggests the male may have been struck by a vehicle, which did not remain at the scene,” the RCMP said in a media release. “Carrot River RCMP continue to investigate in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.”
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Carrot River RCMP at 306-768-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
