A 23-year-old man is facing assault and sexual assault charges after an incident early Saturday in Saskatoon’s Central Business District.
Police said Monday that officers responded Saturday at about 7:30 a.m., after a woman reported being the victim of a sexual assault in the 200 block of Third Avenue.
“Upon arrival, police observed a man hiding in nearby bushes and confirmed him to be the suspect,” police said in a media release. “When he was approached, he fled however was taken into custody a short distance away.”
The release said the 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, assault (choking) and obstruction.
