One person was killed and another was seriously injured Friday in what police called “an industrial accident” in northeast Regina.
According to a release from police, the incident happened just before 9 a.m., at a business in the 400 block of McDonald Street.
“Police, fire, EMS and the coroner attended to the area of the accident and located two injured adult persons, and confirmed the death of one of those persons,” the police release said. “EMS attended to the surviving injured person, who was transported to hospital.”
Global News reported that half a dozen marble slabs had fallen off a truck, trapping someone underneath.
Police didn’t identify the person who died or describe the severity of the other person’s injuries.
“In this case, police are also assisting Occupational Health and Safety as this incident may be considered a workplace fatality,” the police release said.
In a social media post, police said the stretch of McDonald between Hoffer Drive and First Avenue had been closed as emergency crews responded to the incident.
