Police have released a pair of videos of a man suspected of leaving used needles on parks and playgrounds in Saskatoon.
The Saskatoon Police Service said officers have been aware of dirty needles found on parks and playgrounds since July and August of this year, but until recently “were not able to identify any avenues of investigation.”

The person of interest was described as a slim man in his late 30s or early 40s, with stubble on his face and a mole on his right cheek, under his eye. (Saskatoon Police Service/Submitted)
Video evidence from more recent incidents allowed officers to identify a suspect, and a warning to the public was issued Thursday.
“Police are encouraging parents, guardians, caregivers, and educators to be remain observant when accessing public parks and playgrounds,” the police service said in a statement.
An image of the suspect was released Thursday, but on Friday police added videos taken of the playground at Ernest Lindner School on Sept. 29 and Thursday. The videos show a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walking around a playground at night, scattering items from a bag onto the ground in the area around a climbing structure. At one point he appears to kick sand over an item after dropping it.
Those videos can be viewed below.
The suspect was described by police as a thin man in his late 30s or early 40s, with stubble on his face and mole on his cheek under his right eye.
He stands between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, police said, and has been seen wearing a maroon backpack and dark clothing while carrying one or more walking sticks.
The needle incidents are under investigation by the police School Resource Unit, and anyone with information or video evidence that could help the investigation was urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
