An RCMP checkstop over the weekend saw 14 cannabis-impaired drivers issued roadside suspensions.
Police set up the Saturday checkstop along Highway 11 in Chamberlain, the typical driving route between Saskatoon and Regina. The checkstop ran from noon until 4 p.m., and the RCMP said 1,350 vehicles were stopped.
A total of 23 impaired driving tests were administered during the four-hour checkstop, the RCMP said. In addition to the 14 drivers who picked up roadside suspensions, police also ticketed two suspended drivers who tried to avoid the checkstop. All of their vehicles were towed, police said.
Officers also issued 21 warnings and seven tickets for infractions ranging from speeding to cell phone use while driving.
