The University of Saskatchewan Huskies’ winning streak came to an end Friday night at the hands of the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
The Huskies got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing 20-0 midway through the second quarter.
The Huskies tried to claw their way back, but would ultimately fall short 26-22.
Huskies quarterback Anton Amundrud threw for 266 yards and a touchdown in the loss, while Golden Bears quarterback Eli Hetlinger threw for 309 yards and a touchdown in the win.
The Golden Bears also rushed for 245 yards in the game. The Huskies only managed to rush for 67 yards.
Friday’s win at Griffiths Stadium for the Golden Bears marks their first win in Saskatoon since 2010. The school is also off to its first 3-0 start for the first time since 2005.
The Huskies are to travel to Calgary to take on the Dinos next Friday.
