A 41-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a death on the Buffalo River Dene Nation in northern Saskatchewan.
According to the RCMP, police were called on Wednesday morning to a home on the Dene nation where they found an injured man – 55-year-old George Bekkattla – who was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His family has been notified of the death, police said.
“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two adult males,” the RCMP said. “Later that morning, an adult male was arrested in Dillon in relation to this incident.”
Police said 41-year-old Nathan Billette of Buffalo River Dene Nation has been charged with murder. He’s set to appear in court in La Loche next week.
