The Saskatoon Ex is returning for another year of fun but not without some changes being made.
Overall security and safety of people attending the Ex has been upgraded. During last year’s Ex, there were three incidents where bear spray was deployed on the grounds.
“There will be walkthrough metal detectors at all of our public entrances,” said Susan Kuzma, the manager of special events at Prairieland Park.
“Inside the park we have a lost kids program. Of course there will be uniformed officers, there is first aid (and) Medavie, and lots of water bottle spots.”
Kuzma said even though there are more uniformed officers patrolling the park, it won’t be a noticeable difference.
Kuzma said there are still a lot of standout and unique entertainment features that will grab the eyes of people.
“There are things like the super dogs. This year we have racing pigs (and) a lumberjack show,” said Kuzma. “One of the other great features we have is the ‘Fire Guy,’ who on Friday is going to attempt to break the Guinness world record for fire eating.”
There are acts for children at the Ex too.
“There is Paw Patrol, so they get to meet the pups in a meet-and-greet and there’s a storytime with them as well,” said Kuzma.
Kuzma said she’s looking forward to the concerts that the Ex is putting on this year.
The concerts are headlined by Arkells, who perform Tuesday night.
The Ex opens Tuesday and runs until Sunday.
