Saskatoon’s Jazz Festival gets underway Friday at a new location.
This year, the popular festival is being held at Victoria Park where it will run until July 9.
Shannon Josdal, the festival’s executive director, said she’s a big fan of the new venue.
“It’s awesome,” she told Mark Loshack on the CKOM Morning Show.
“It’s amazing to see all the space and amenities we’re going to be able to have. We’ve got an extended beer garden, we’ve got markets, we’ve got a family fun area. We’re really stoked.”
Because of the new location, there will be some changes when it comes to how things are run.
“The first six days of the festival are completely free, and then starting on July 6 it’s a day pass. You get one day, one pass and five shows,” Josdal explained.
“You get a wristband and you can come and go throughout the day. If you want to bundle and buy more than one day, you get a discount for every day you add on.”
Tickets for a single day are $75. Kids aged eight to 12 can get tickets for 50 per cent off, and those under the age of eight get in for free.
Josdal says they have some pretty big acts coming to the festival this year.
“We’ve got The Beaches, Amanda Marshall, Serena Rider, Margo Price, St. Paul and the Broken Bones… you could go on and on,” she said. “It’s amazing!”
