Two robbery suspects were arrested Wednesday evening after an armed home invasion in Melfort.
Police said a man and a woman – both armed with guns – entered a home in Melfort early Wednesday morning, when they threatened the occupants and stole jewelry and car keys. The pair then stole a vehicle outside the home and took off, police said.
The occupants of the home weren’t hurt.
The Saskatchewan RCMP said officers identified the suspects through an investigation, and caught up with the pair while they were driving in Melfort on Wednesday evening.
When officers tried to perform a traffic stop, police said the duo took off, but stopped a short distance later and fled on foot. They didn’t get far, police said, and were quickly arrested.
A 39-year-old man from Opaskwayak, Man., and a 19-year-old woman from Paddockwood are both charged with robbery with a firearm, breaking and entering, wearing a disguise with intent, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, theft of a motor vehicle and forcible confinement.
The man was also charged with two counts of misusing a credit card.
