Kids screamed with joy Tuesday as they splashed into the water after going down the Riversdale Pool waterslide.
The pool in Saskatoon is now open for the summer season, with more outdoor pools set to open up over the next two weeks.
The Riversdale waterslide has just been renovated, and Lathey Pool has been renovating its slide as well. Lathey’s will end at the base of the slide instead of splashing into the water for accessibility purposes.
At Riversdale, the slide splashes right into the water, and people are loving the new slide.
“It’s very fast and very exciting,” said one slider. “The more slides, the better.”
With the temperatures on the rise, outdoor pools are a nice way to cool down this summer. Kids can regulate their temperature while still having fun outdoors.
Other than the new slide, lane swimming is another important feature that Riversdale Pool offers to swimmers.
One Saskatoon mom said since the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre is temporarily closed, Riversdale is where she will be coming for lane swims to stay fit this summer.
“This is probably one of the only places to lane swim, other than (the) Shaw (Centre),” she said. “It’s a nice way to stay cool and in shape.”
