Fire crews in Saskatoon rushed to BN Steel & Metals on Monday morning to battle a large fire that started in the scrapyard.
Clouds of thick black smoke rose from the fire and those clouds could be seen throughout various parts of the city.
In order to deal with the fire, crews blocked off a section of road from Quebec Avenue and 40th Street to 41st Street.
After about 30 minutes of battling the fire, crews were able to bring it under control and workers were allowed back into their offices.
In an emailed update, a spokesperson for the company said it was “business as usual” at BN Metals in the afternoon.
“Staff were evacuated as a safety precaution and returned to the building within half an hour,” the update said. “No one was hurt and there were no damages to any buildings or equipment. The fire occurred in the scrap pile and the root cause of the fire is unknown.”
