A 50-year-old semi driver is dead after two semis collided near Indian Head on Monday evening.
According to the RCMP, a westbound semi rolled onto the centre median of the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Indian head at around 7:45 p.m. An eastbound semi then collided with the rolled truck.
A 50-year-old woman from Ontario, the driver and lone occupant of the westbound semi, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said.
The driver of the eastbound semi was taken to hospital, the RCMP said, but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Traffic was restricted on Highway 1 as the debris from the crash was cleaned up, police said, but all lanes are expected to reopen Tuesday.
The crash is under investigation by the Indian Head RCMP detachment and a collision reconstruction expert.
