Dates have been set for an inquest into the death of a 19-year-old man who died inside the Onion Lake RCMP detachment more than three years ago.
Randy Wolfe was found unresponsive in his cell on Oct. 12, 2019. Medical personnel who responded to the call pronounced him dead.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service will hold the inquest from Feb. 27 to March 3 at the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association.
According to The Coroners Act, the chief coroner must hold an inquest when an inmate dies at a jail or a correctional facility, unless the coroner is satisfied the person’s death was due to natural causes and was not preventable.
Inquests are held to determine when and where a person died, as well as the medical cause and manner of their death. The coroner’s jury can make recommendations to prevent similar deaths.
