A Saskatoon dentist, his brother and a woman have been arrested on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
Officers raided four properties in the city on Jan. 5 in connection with what police described as “a large-scale operation in which cocaine and methamphetamine was being trafficked.”
As a result, Jae Sung (Jason) Lee, Jaeho Lee and Jessica Tran were charged with trafficking controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance, possession of the proceeds from crime, and operating as a criminal organization.
Saskatoon police seized around $79,000 in cash, three vehicles (including a Mercedes-Benz), jewelry, financial documents, a residential property on Hamm Crescent (with an estimated value of $700,000), and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
In a media release, police said additional charges could be laid.
Jae Sung Lee has worked as a dentist at River Landing Dental. His image has been removed from its website since his arrest.
On Wednesday, defence lawyer Thomas Hines appeared by phone in Saskatoon Provincial Court before Justice Jane Wootten on behalf of Jaeho Lee.
Hines told the court they’re still awaiting disclosure and preparing a plan for release ahead of a bail hearing for Jaeho. He is scheduled to appear in court again Monday.
