Some of the City of Saskatoon’s fees and rates are increasing in 2023, while many others are staying the same.
The cost of general admission to city leisure centres is going up, jumping from $10 for adults to $10.25 in 2023. A monthly pass for adults will cost an extra dollar in the new year, up from $51 to $52.
While curbside residential recycling fees won’t increase in 2023, the city noted that the curbside organics program will add a $6.73 monthly charge to city utility bills starting in May.
Water and wastewater rates will go up by 3.4 per cent in 2023, the city said.
Saskatoon Light & Power customers will see an average jump of three per cent in the carbon charge rate on their utility bills, the city said, which is a result of the federal government’s rising carbon tax.
Fees at city golf courses will go up in 2023.
At Holiday Park, an adult playing 18 holes on a weekend will pay $61.30 in 2022, up from $59.75. At Silverwood, that same round will cost $40.51, up from $38.60. For Wildwood, that cost is going up to $45.45 from $43.85.
Not all of the city’s fees are increasing, however.
Remaining unchanged in 2023 are the fees for the landfill, compost depot season permits, pet licences, parking fees, parking permit fees, parking fines, impound lots, transit fares, special permits, and business licence fees (in most categories).
Also unchanged were the rates for the Gordie Howe Campground, indoor rinks, sports fields, and special event permits and applications.
