Santa has crashed his sleigh, and his reindeer have escaped.
Glow Saskatoon, a massive holiday light show, is back for its second year in Hall D of Prairieland Park. This year’s theme, ‘Santa’s Sleigh Adventure,’ takes visitors on a journey to find the missing reindeer and receive a sweet treat at the end.
Susan Kuzma, manager of special events at Prairieland Park, said from seniors to children, it’s a perfect outing for the whole family.
“If people have been to it in the past, they’ll notice that the theme is different,” Kuzma said, noting the event has grown since last year.
The light show is very interactive, featuring play parks for children, Disney princesses, and the must-see light displays which are large enough for visitors to walk around inside and take pictures.
“It’s obviously an ‘Instagrammable’ moment everywhere you turn,” Kuzma said.
There is also a live entertainment stage, a craft market, and food vendors.
Kuzma said it takes the organizers about 10 days to set up the display, which includes almost a million lights. It takes a lot longer to set everything up than to take it down, she noted.
Visitors to Glow will find light displays dangling from the ceiling, glistening snowmen, and even a sparkling carriage perfect for photos. Prairieland also brings in more than 700 live poinsettia plants, which are displayed throughout the hall to add to the festive atmosphere. One of the main attractions at this year’s show is an operating train, which both children and adults can ride.
“This should be a holiday tradition for many families, and we welcome everyone to come out and see this spectacular show,” Kuzma said.
Admission starts at $21.99 for adults and $15.99 for children. The light show runs until Dec. 30 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. on weekends.
