Four people arrested on outstanding warrants now also are facing charges in connection with an alleged murder on the Waterhen Lake First Nation.
In a media release Wednesday, the RCMP said the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team was in the Meadow Lake area on Saturday to search for a wanted man.
Police found and arrested the man in a house in the Eagles Lake area. At the house, officers also arrested three other people who were wanted on warrants.
On Tuesday, all four people were charged in connection with the death Saturday of 36-year-old Jeremy Ernest from the Waterhen Lake First Nation.
A 31-year-old man from the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, an 18-year-old woman from Eagles Lake, and a 34-year-old man from the Waterhen Lake First Nation were charged with second-degree murder. The 31-year-old also was charged with one count of aggravated assault.
As well, a 23-year-old woman from Battleford was charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact.
They’re scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Thursday.
The Waterhen Lake First Nation is located about 40 kilometres north of Meadow Lake.
