A chemical scare at a downtown hotel in Saskatoon resulted in three people going to hospital on Sunday.
The fire department’s hazardous material team was called to the Hilton Garden Inn at 2:47 p.m. regarding air quality concerns after a chemical incident in the boiler room of the hotel.
The two chemicals mixed together were muriatic acid and sodium chloride, said a release from the fire department.
The ventilation system was turned off to stop any vapours from spreading. Hotel guests were also restricted from the lobby and pool area until the chemicals were contained and removed from the building.
The fire department said three people who complained about not feeling well were taken to hospital to be checked out.
At 5:14 p.m., the restricted areas were opened and the building was turned over to the hotel management.
