A retired Saskatchewan RCMP officer was handed a two-year conditional sentence after pleading guilty to a fraud charge in Regina Court of King’s Bench on Friday.
Cheryl Jarvis served as a sergeant in charge of the “F” Division Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Service from May 2008 until October 2010. She retired from the RCMP in 2015.
According to a media release from 2018, the Saskatchewan RCMP received information in February of 2013 about accounting irregularities within the Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Service.
A subsequent investigation found there had been a misappropriation of funds into personal bank accounts, with the amount exceeding $13,000.
The RCMP media release from 2018 said Jarvis had been charged with theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, forgery, and use of a forged document.
Court documents say Jarvis pleaded guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000. The other charges were stayed.
