A high school and college in the Meadow Lake area were briefly locked down last week after shots were fired in the area, the RCMP said.
According to police, the Meadow Lake RCMP detachment received a report of shots fired near a local high school Friday evening. Officers immediately responded, along with a police dog unit, but no suspects or firearms were found.
“The high school and nearby college were in a hold and secure as a safety precaution,” the RCMP said in a statement.
The precautions were lifted shortly afterward, police said.
In a separate incident, the RCMP said officers from the Meadow Lake detachment responded to a report of shots fired along Highway 4 near the city on Thursday around 11 p.m. Police launched an investigation, but were unable to identify any potential leads or suspects.
