The Saskatchewan RCMP is looking for answers after a 51-year-old man was murdered on The Key First Nation.
Mounties from the Kamsack detachment responded to a call Sunday at about 5 a.m., about a gun being fired in a house on the First Nation that’s located about 15 kilometres south of Norquay.
Inside the house, officers found a man who subsequently was pronounced dead by paramedics. The RCMP didn’t identify the victim, but said his family had been told of his death.
The Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Historical Crimes Unit and Regina Provincial RCMP General Investigation Section all were involved the initial investigation.
The Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and the shooting now is considered a murder.
“Investigators would like to speak to anyone with information about the male’s death, or who noticed anything suspicious in the rural area southeast of the ‘Four Corners’ intersection on The Key First Nation during the early morning hours of October 23, 2022,” the RCMP said in a release.
Anyone with information can call the Kamsack RCMP at 306-542-5560, their local police service, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
