The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning people about a phone scam that’s going around.
A caller tells the person who answers that they’ve been in close contact with someone who’s a confirmed case of monkeypox, then directs the recipient of the call to press a number.
“This is a scam,” the SHA said in a tweet. “Hang up & do NOT press any numbers.”
The SHA says there aren’t any known cases of monkeypox in the province right now.
❗️ IMPORTANT ❗️ The SHA is aware of a phone scam claiming the recipient is a close contact to someone with confirmed monkey pox. The caller asks them to press a number. This is a scam. Hang up & do NOT press any numbers. There is currently not a known case of monkey pox in #Sask.
