A substantial amount of cocaine and various items reported stolen over the past two years were found after the RCMP searched a house on the Waterhen Lake First Nation and a cabin at Redmond Lake.
According to the Mounties, officers from the Meadow Lake RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) executed search warrants at those locations in early September as they investigated an assault in the Flotten Lake area.
Officers found about 2.4 kilograms of cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia at the house, as well as guns, ammunition, a Seadoo, laptops and a snowmobile trailer.
On Sept. 2, a 40-year-old man from the Waterhen Lake First Nation was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and one count each of trafficking cocaine, unlicensed possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, public mischief, and assault with a weapon.
Those charges followed counts of discharging a firearm with intent and assault with a weapon that were laid against the man after the incident in the Flotten Lake area.
When the Mounties searched the cabin at Redmond Lake, they found a Bobcat, two Seadoos, a trailer and an ATV. The RCMP said those items had been reported stolen over the past two years from various areas in central and northern Saskatchewan.
The man was charged with another four counts of possession of property obtained by crime more than $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.
He made his first court appearance on those charges on Monday.
