Dawn Walker made her third appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday morning.
Prosecutor Lee Hnatiuk told Judge Bria Huculak that the Crown will be proceeding by indictment with the charges against Walker. Tara Boghosian appeared by phone for the defence.
Because the Crown is proceeding that way, the lowest sentence Walker could face if convicted is two years and a day. Should the case proceed to trial, the matters will eventually move to the Court of King’s Bench.
The Saskatoon woman is facing charges of abduction and mischief in Saskatoon after faking her death and that of a minor. Walker also is charged in the United States with using false identification documents.
Walker disappeared from Saskatoon on July 24. After an extensive two-week search, she was found Aug. 5 in Oregon City, Ore., where she was arrested.
Walker was released on conditions after a bail hearing in Saskatoon on Sept. 2. She was not present in court Monday.
Her next appearance is set for Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
