St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral will be filled with people paying their respects to Queen Elizabeth II on Monday night in Regina.
The Queen died Thursday at the age of 96. Her funeral is to be held Monday in London.
The provincial memorial service for the Queen will start at 7 p.m., at the church in downtown Regina.
The service will be open to the public and Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty and Premier Scott Moe will be there.
Doors are to open at 5:30 p.m. and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional seating is to be available in the parish hall with a closed-circuit TV feed. The service also is to be streamed over St. Paul’s Facebook page.
Masks at the church service will be optional but welcomed.
The Canadian government has proclaimed Monday as a federal holiday, but it won’t be a statutory holiday in Saskatchewan.
The City of Regina also is not designating it as a statutory holiday for civic employees. All of the city’s programs and services will operate as scheduled.
A book of condolence can be signed at City Hall. Flags at City Hall will remain at half-mast until sunset on Monday.
