Two people were arrested Tuesday morning after a high-speed chase in Saskatoon.
According to police, officers tried to stop a vehicle on Avenue I shortly before 8 a.m., but the driver fled from police at a high rate of speed. The vehicle collided with a semi at the intersection of 60th Street East and Faithful Avenue.
The two men inside tried to run after the crash, police said, but they were quickly arrested. Paramedics attended the scene to treat a few minor injuries.
Police later confirmed the vehicle was stolen, and found a number of weapons inside and nearby. Those weapons include a club, machete, knife and shotgun ammunition found inside the vehicle, as well as a shotgun that police believe was thrown from the vehicle near the intersection of 51st Street and Idylwyld Drive.
Both men, the 30-year-old driver and 53-year-old passenger, are now facing a list of weapons-related charges. The driver is further accused of evading police and possession of stolen property.
A number of traffic restrictions were put in place Tuesday morning as police investigated the aftermath of the chase, but all restrictions were removed in the early afternoon.
