8:50– Yesterday, Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland visited Saskatchewan as part of her summer tour. Her visit included a visit to the Mosaic’s potash mine outside of Colonsay, a visit with Mayor Charlie Clark, and a trip to Baba’s Closet, which provides Ukrainian families with essentials such as appliances and hygiene items. 11:30– Can you pass the 10-second balance test? Balance training can often be overlooked but according to exercise and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Claudio Gil Araujo, balance training is crucial for healthy aging. Araujo and a Brazillian team did a study in June and found that 20 percent of the 1,700 older adults tested couldn’t balance on one leg for 10 seconds or more. He joins us to talk about this study and give some tips for living a healthier active life as we age.

12:00– Michael Garnett and his wife made their way to Ukraine to help refugees who are fleeing the Russian invasion back in May. They helped others by purchasing suitcases and helped refugees with visa applications and airfare. He has now returned to Canada and tells us about his new nonprofit Help from Canada which brings refugees from Europe to Canada using Westjet staff-donated “buddy passes.”
