An 85-year-old woman is dead in a suspected homicide at a Prince Albert care home.
According to Prince Albert police, the victim was assaulted at the care home Aug. 14, and was taken to hospital in serious condition. She succumbed to her injuries five days later, police said.
According to police, a 76-year-old woman who was also a resident at the care home has been identified as a suspect in the case, but no arrests have been made yet. The alleged assault is under investigation by police, with help from the Office of the Chief Coroner and Crown prosecutors.
The care home where the alleged assault occurred is located on 28th Street East in Prince Albert, police said.
Police said they don’t believe there is any danger to the public, and said more information will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
