More than a year after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Saskatoon, the woman accused of being the driver turned herself in to police in Alberta.
The case dates back to May of 2021, when a 33-year-old woman was struck and killed by a blue Jeep Compass on 33rd Street West.
At the time, police said they believed the vehicle had an Alberta licence plate, and put out a call for help from the public. On the one-year anniversary of the collision, police renewed their calls for information.
On Monday, police said the suspect came forward.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, 38-year-old Chasity Erin Kyplain turned herself in to police in Edmonton, and is scheduled to make an appearance Tuesday morning in a Saskatoon courtroom.
She’s charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision which resulted in a death, police said.
Police thanked the media and public for their help during the investigation.
