It wasn’t the result the Saskatchewan Rattlers were hoping for.
The Rattlers lost 108-96 to the host Scarborough Shooting Stars in a Canadian Elite Basketball League quarterfinal Sunday.
Saskatchewan kept things tight in the first half, trailing by a narrow margin of 43-39 at the break. Scarborough pushed away in the third quarter, extending the lead to 79-64 with just one final quarter to play.
The Shooting Stars suffocated any chance of a Rattlers fourth-quarter comeback, holding a 16-point lead when ELAM score was announced.
Trailing 97-81 with an ELAM score of 108, Scarborough cashed in on excellent three-point shooting from sharpshooter Kassius Robertson.
Robertson was 6-for-8 from beyond the arc in the win. Scarborough shot 44 per cent from three-point range, while Saskatchewan shot just 27 per cent.
Tony Carr led the Rattlers’ offence with 21 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds for the first triple-double the entire CEBL has seen this postseason.
Scottie Lindsey returned to the Rattlers after missing the team’s previous playoff game, contributing 20 points, as did Jordy Tshimanga.
Scarborough advances to CEBL Championship Weekend in Ottawa to face the Niagara River Lions and will attempt to win the franchise’s first-ever league championship.
