RCMP officers in Cumberland House are on the hunt for a man accused of arson, assault and uttering threats.
Police said officers were called to a home on the Cumberland House Cree Nation on Monday afternoon for a report of a man uttering threats, but when they arrived, the officers found the home on fire.
The blaze was put out by local firefighters, RCMP said, but the fire left the home heavily damaged.
During the investigation, officers got a report of a separate assault that allegedly happened earlier this year.
Lawrence McGillivary, a 29-year-old resident of Cumberland House, has been charged with arson, uttering threats and assault causing bodily harm by choking, strangling or suffocating.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest, the RCMP said, and officers are working to track him down.
McGillivary was described as 5-foot-10 in height and weighing 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who spots McGillivary should not approach him, the RCMP warned. Any sightings can be reported to police or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
