Four people have been arrested and a 22-year-old woman is wanted after a woman was allegedly forced into a vehicle against her will in Meadow Lake.
According to the RCMP, the victim was a woman who was forced into a vehicle and assaulted Monday night. She managed to escape her kidnappers, police said, and was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries, police said, were not considered life-threatening.
Police tracked down the suspects’ vehicle, and after a short chase, all four people inside were arrested.
They were charged with fleeing police, one was further charged with kidnapping with intent and assault, and one was charged with kidnapping with intent. Two of the four people arrested were from Saskatoon, police said. One was from Meadow Lake, and one was from Arelee.
In addition to the four arrests, the RCMP said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 22-year-old Kyla Cheenanow of Meadow Lake on charges of kidnapping, assault and breaching court conditions. Police said Cheenanow is 5-foot-2 and weighs 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The RCMP said officers are “actively trying to locate and arrest” Cheenanow, and asked anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
