A skatepark in Warman will remain closed for the next few days after being vandalized.
Mayor Gary Philipchuk says residents have dusted themselves off and are working to repair the park and find out who’s responsible.
“We’re just thankful to how many residents right away want to help solve this and really be a major part in trying to keep our community safe, caring and beautiful,” Philipchuk said.
Graffiti was spray-painted across the park on ramps and the sink inside the washroom was torn off the wall.
The mayor says people have been sharing information with the RCMP to help police piece together what happened.
“Social media provides a great platform now that if there’s something like this and it’s happening in more than one place and one time that we’re keeping our eyes open,” he said.
Philipchuk says this wasn’t the only incident that happened in the past couple of weeks and is reminding residents that if they see something to say something.
“Have your eyes looking at what’s happening. If you see someone in the back alley that doesn’t look like they shouldn’t be there, don’t be afraid to call the RCMP,” the mayor said.
He says he isn’t too concerned about more incidents like this happening over the summer as neighbours remain vigilant in looking out for each other and reporting suspicious activity.
In the end, it’s just costing the city and residents.
“It’s a waste of money. It’s something that we don’t get any better by these situations that happen,” Philipchuk stated.
RCMP confirmed no arrests have been made.
And for the skatepark, Philipchuk says it will take a couple of days to clean up the spray paint, but the washroom repairs are expected to take longer.
