A woman wanted in connection with the death of Megan Gallagher has been arrested by the RCMP.
In a media release Sunday, the Saskatoon Police Service said Jessica Sutherland was arrested Saturday in the area of Onion Lake after police got a tip from a member of the public.
Sutherland, 42, is charged with offering an indignity to human remains. She’s expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday at 9 a.m.
Gallagher, 30, was last seen on video surveillance at a convenience store on Diefenbaker Drive in Saskatoon in September of 2020. In January of 2021, police announced they were treating the investigation as a murder.
Police later released an audio recording of a phone call allegedly made from Gallagher’s phone calling for a cab on Sept. 21, 2020. Officers confirmed the people who made the call were picked up by a taxi and dropped off on Avenue P South.
Sutherland is the third person arrested in the case, joining a 41-year-old man and a 44-year-old man. Police are still on the lookout for a fourth person, 44-year-old John Wayne Sanderson of the James Smith First Nation.
All four face the same charge of offering an indignity to human remains. None of the four individuals has been charged with murder or manslaughter.
Anyone with information regarding Sanderson’s whereabouts or who has details that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to call the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
