A Regina man has been given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to leaving threatening voicemails at the office of Premier Scott Moe.
Ernest Miller was charged in August of 2020.
He pleaded guilty to one count of uttering threats toward Moe in Regina Provincial Court on April 23, 2021 and took court-ordered programming. Another count was stayed.
During another appearance in court Friday, Miller was given the conditional discharge and six months of probation.
In a media release at the time of Miller’s arrest, police said they were alerted by the RCMP on Aug. 10, 2020 about a number of phone messages left two days earlier at Moe’s legislative office.
“The content of the messages was sufficiently concerning to prompt further investigation,” the police said in the release.
Investigators also learned of another incident in which similar messages were left at the office of a non-government agency. That’s the count that was stayed during one of Miller’s court appearances.
