A 29-year-old man is dead and two people are wounded after a shooting in Saskatoon’s Nutana area Thursday afternoon.
Police received a call around 4:30 p.m. about an injured man in 100 block of Main Street. A second man was also hurt and transported to hospital. Shortly after, police received a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a man dead behind an apartment building.
Two men with slim builds were spotted fleeing the scene, police said in a statement Friday. Both were wearing dark clothing, and one was carrying a bag with a strap.
Police asked anyone who lives in the area enclosed by Saskatchewan Crescent East, Victoria Avenue, Main Street, and the Idylwyld Drive freeway to check security camera footage captured between 4 and 5 p.m. Thursday in case they spotted anything suspicious.
Police said they don’t believe there is any continued risk to public safety, and encouraged anyone with information on the shooting to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
