After a record year in 2021, the T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend is preparing to open its doors for the 2022 season.
The centre, located at #1 T-rex Drive, is to open May 21. It’s open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. until Labour Day.
Last year, 12,250 visitors went to the centre, breaking the previous record of 10,440 set in 2018.
The centre is the home of Scotty, the world’s largest T. rex. Guests can see Scotty at the CN Scotty Gallery and also can check out the Paleo Lab Experience and some of the other latest discoveries by Royal Saskatchewan Museum palaeontologists.
The Paleo Lab Experience is an interactive area where patrons can chat with staff and learn about the research being done at the centre. A new Tylosaur display is being added in the lab.
The centre and the Town of Eastend also invite visitors to check out the landscape of the Cypress Hills on the hiking trails around the Discovery Centre or to uncover a new fossil in the Fossil Dig Sand Pit.
