The power remained out for around 12,000 people in Saskatchewan as of Monday morning.
SaskPower says crews are continuing to make significant progress in the storm-stricken southeast corner of the province, where some people like Lee Stanley have found themselves without power for over a day and a half.
“We don’t hear spring birds chirping out here,” Stanley said. “We’ve got the roars of generators and snowplows.
“We’ve got heat in the house and we made a pot of coffee this morning, so, we’re surviving.”
Saturday’s storm brought rain and snow to parts of the southeast, toppling powerlines with thick coats of slush.
Stanley believes he got around two inches of rain along with about six inches of slush and ice in the Gainsborough area near the Manitoba border.
For Stanley, Saturday was just another day of rough conditions — a frequent occurrence lately.
“It’s been storming here for weeks and that’s just killing every calf in the country,” he said.
“The guys and girls are doing everything they possibly can but they’re fighting a losing battle. Mother Nature has the trump card and she’s playing some nasty hands right now.”
Our crews take pride in their work and are doing their best to restore power to those impacted by the strong storm in the southeast. Unfortunately, some customers will be without power overnight. Learn more by visiting the link below. #SkOutage

Environment Canada meteorologist Kayla Bilous estimates around 20 centimetres or eight inches of snow fell in the region, adding that winds gusting to more than 85 kilometres per hour would have done some damage as well.
Bilous believes better days are ahead, even if there could be some really wet conditions coming up.
“It’s definitely becoming an unusual spring for sure; winter is definitely lasting longer than it should,” she said. “But it looks like like later into the week, we’re going to be seeing all above-zero temperatures, so maybe we’ll finally get out of the funk of winter.
“It might be a wet weekend, though, with some rain showers coming up.”
It might be a little bit snowy as well: Bilous says there is a chance for some light snowfall around the province on Wednesday.
