A busy week for firefighters in Saskatoon continued on Wednesday evening.
The Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) was called at 9:14 p.m. to the 400 block of Avenue E South, where a small fire had broken out on the third floor of a home.
The SFD said the people inside made it out safely.
In an update Thursday morning, SFD said the cause of the fire was accidental from improper disposal of smouldering incense in a waste basket.
Damage is estimated at $5,000.
Roughly an hour after that fire was put out, crews were called to another blaze on the west side at a fourplex in the 300 block of Avenue Q South.
Flames were visible from the building’s window when crews arrived on scene. The fire was brought under control at 11:09 p.m.
A fire investigator determined the cause to be suspicous. Damage is pegged at $275,000.
Since Easter Sunday, Saskatoon fire crews have responded to four house fires in the city and two grass fires south of town.
