Environment Canada’s snowfall warnings continue Sunday morning as a clipper system moves in.
Between 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected to fall in communities in the Assiniboia, Carlyle, Estevan and Weyburn areas Sunday before tapering off.
“The closer you are to the states, probably the more snow you’re going to see,” Environment Canada Meteorologist Dave Carlsen said Sunday morning.
He explained that this type of system is common for this time of year.
“It’s kind of a transition season between the cold winter and hot summer,” he said. “Usually when you get those transitions you get a lot of precipitation.”
Once this system moves out of the area Carlsen expects it will only be a matter of a few days before more snow falls in Saskatchewan.
“Looks like another moderate snowfall will come down the Yellowhead (highway) Tuesday night or Wednesday,” he said. “It will probably start in Lloydminster on Tuesday night and go through Saskatoon through Yorkton and into Manitoba by Wednesday.”
Modeling data on Sunday showed up to eight centimetres of snow associated with that system.
