A traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway turned into much more Tuesday.
According to the RCMP, at about 2:30 p.m., an officer from the Morse detachment pulled over a car doing 159 kilometres per hour in a 110 zone.
A search of the car found drugs that police believe were oxycodone, morphine, methadone, codeine and cocaine. One of the three men in the car also had a loaded handgun in the pocket of his jacket; the man didn’t have a licence or a certificate for the gun.
A 21-year-old man from Winnipeg faces 11 weapons and drugs charges, while a 21-year-old man from Calgary and a 22-year-old Calgary man each was charged with four drug offences. The 22-year-old also was ticketed for speeding and not having a valid driver’s licence.
Their next court appearance is set for April 20.
