A spring blast of winter is on the way to Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada issued special weather statements Sunday morning for areas in the province’s southeast corner, including Weyburn, Estevan and Moosomin.
A Colorado low is slowly headed for North Dakota and Minnesota Tuesday night, and that will catch part of Saskatchewan.
The weather office estimates as much as 20 centimeters–or close to eight inches–could fall in areas around the US border. Further north, areas can expect between five and 15 cm.
Wind will also gust between 60 and 70 kilometres per hour.
Meteorologists say the heavy snow mixed with strong winds will create widespread blowing snow Wednesday and Thursday.
However, Environment Canada said confidence regarding the track of this system is slowly improving but remains uncertain. It adds deviation in the track of this system could lead to significant changes in the projected storm-total accumulations and wind speeds over the region.
