8:30 – Saskatchewan Finance Minister Donna Harpauer tabled the 2022-23 budget Wednesday that she says puts the province “back on track.” It includes a $463 million deficit, a $2.1 billion improvement from last year’s budget. The budget includes significant spending in healthcare, addressing surgery wait times, education and capital projects. The PST is being expanded to include things like sporting events, concerts and greens fees starting in October. Harpauer joins John to discuss the budget and the financial future of the province.

Dr. Joe Blondeau and his team from the University of Saskatchewan have cracked a multi-species mystery, documenting the flow of a common canine pathogen from a dog to a human. They were able to determine how a UTI was transmitted from a dog to a human. Dr. Blondeau joins John to talk about the research and why it’s so interesting for microbiologists such as himself.
