'Considering the circumstances ... this is best-case scenario,' Cole Cusitar said.
An RCMP investigation has resulted in a charge of common assault against a nine-year member of the Saskatoon Police Service.
Police said in a media release that Const. Robert Webb was off duty at the time of the alleged incident, which prompted a complaint to the RCMP on March 11.
Webb appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The release from Saskatoon police said the officer has been suspended with pay. It added that an internal investigation will begin after the conclusion of the court case against Webb.
