Some power line work will be affecting Saskatoon drivers this weekend.
Joel Cherry, a spokesperson for SaskPower, said crews are continuing work on a new $20-million power line upgrade in Saskatoon’s University area.
“It’s going to accommodate future growth in that area and allow us to serve the University of Saskatchewan better,” Cherry said.
Part of the work involves stringing power lines over the road. Cherry said that’s going to cause some traffic delays and asks that people are alert and aware to keep workers safe.
He said the work is being done over the long weekend to help minimize traffic impacts.
Motorists will have to stop while crews string power lines over the roadway for periods of about 10 minutes, Cherry said, comparing the delay to that of a train crossing.
The work is scheduled to take place Sunday morning on Circle Drive around the Preston Crossing mall area.
